A very fine pressing indeed! Quit when it needs to exist and punches you in the face when information technology ramps up. Dear information technology! Blakey'south pulsate solo lonely should entice your purchase hear. The music is something to be had as well. Buy this pressing or not... go a copy of this record. The music is fantastic and swinging for sure. The barrack from the musicians while recording is special. I love to hear them route each other on as they play. Great chore VMP for seeking out the all-time in the business organisation for this release, the coiffure at QRP!
The Release: As is seemingly the manner with all of the VMP Classic releases, there is footling to detect fault with here. The jacket is nice and glossy, non too snug - some of their other records have been guilty of this. Comes every bit a 180g vinyl that is dead flat, no warping and the audio is only tremendous. It just stretches everything out compared to the digital version which, itself, is even so very squeamish. Not quite "in the same room" just as near every bit dammit. The booklet is, every bit ever, informative and nicely written. Very very few complaints to be establish here.
The Music: My introduction to Art Blakey, The Freedom Passenger is quickly becoming one of my favourite jazz albums always. And so endlessly re-listenable and ane of the few jazz records that work as well as a focal bespeak or as groundwork racket to a conversation. The sheer level of artistry on here, whilst it shouldn't come up as a surprise given the personnel, continues to astonish and I'm now on my tertiary or fourth mind. The title rails wins the day as the single greatest instance of drumming I take yet encountered - although I'm sure more moments exist in Blakey's catalogue. So glad I picked this up and and then happy to accept information technology as role of my collection.
wow, this sounds great. so much stereo in the recording. All-time jazz pulsate recording I have ever heard.
Peachy pressing, quality mastering (admitting non every bit much air effectually the instruments as other Blue Note reissues), great music. It's fun to hear Blakey call commands throughout Tell Information technology Similar It Is, and the championship track is a fun heed in headphones. Such a good Jazz Messengers lineup. Highly recommended!
Amazing. Lovely task by VMP on this under-rated stunner of an album. five stars
First-class all effectually, packaging, sound, mastering! Become it earlier its gone
Sound is splendid per usual after VMP Classics started using QRP. Flat, dead silent vinyl and a very nice sleeve.
Nice quality reissue merely one strange thing. The liner notes use a dissimilar font than an original. Information technology's meliorate than VMP'southward Blossom Dearie LP which cropped the heck out of the front encompass, only it'south yet weird to flip information technology over and having it look off.
This is simply amazing. I highly recommend people get this ASAP.
